Little is known about Ann Eliza Osborne. We have identified her on three census records 1865, 1870, 1875 and one newspaper obituary for her daughter. As she is 25 years younger than her husband, we are suspicious that there may have been an earlier first husband. Which then throws the parentage of the children into question.
Her name appears as Anna, Ann E or Ann Eliza in the different records which we do have.
We have found one document referring to her daughter Lida Osborne as Eliza McPherson. Which raises the possibility that Lida's name earlier in life was McPherson. Perhaps Lida was married earlier or had a different father than William E. We have been unable to identify any census entries under that name. We have also found an 1865 census entry listing a sister (William's or Ann's?) as Emeline McFeeson, lending credence to the possibility Ann's maiden name is McPherson. The 1865 census lists she had 4 children and that this was her first marriage. Beyond Lida and William we do not know who the earlier children could be.
Much work needs to be done on this lady.

Lobo Twp is about 12 miles from Delaware, Ontario. On Lobo Twp voter list in 1878 and 1880. Not on census in 1881. His 2nd wife is on 1881 census as a widow.
On the 1861 Canadian Census for Cramahe, Northumberland, Canada, his children Levi and Lucinda appeared in the household of Abert(age 54) & Abigail Porter(age 50). Also in the household children, Maurice Porter(age 25) and Porthena Porter(age 22). All were listed as born in the U.S. We have not found Willis in the 1861 census. Willis appears on the 1852 Census in Brighton, Northumberland County (without Sophronia or Levi). (Cramahe is about 11 miles from Brighton). We believe that his wife Sophronia died approximately 1861. This is probably indicative that she died prior to the 1861 census. We have not found Willis himself on the 1861 census.
From family trees online it appears that Albert Borzer Porter was born 1805 in Hartford County, Connecticut. His wife is Abigail Pettet. I did not find any genealogical connection.
On the 1850 census in Ira, Cayuga, New York Head of household is listed as William Phelps, wife is listed as Cephrona and Willis (must be Levi) is listed as 6 months old on 8/10/1850 (Levi's death cert shows born Feb 1850).
There is an 1851 mortgage foreclosure sale on his real estate in Ira, found on genealogybank.com. The Cayuga Chief 11 Nov1851 P.3. Willis executed a mortgage 6 Jul 1850. The foreclosure sale is 27 Nov 1851.
He appears on 1878 and 1880 Voter Lists in Lobo Township. But does not appear on the 1881 Census. We assume that he died prior to 1881.
Inscription on 2nd wife's gravestone, says in 1884 "wife of late W.H. Phelps" | Phelps, Willis (I6611)

Many on-line genealogies give Richard Owen and Joanna Pitt as John's Parents, but there is not a shred of proof to this. His parentage and place of birth are unknown, although the family history has him coming from Wales.
Page 55.
Owen, John sen. Died 18 February, 1698. Invt. £29-01-00. Taken 5 April, 1698, by Lt. Hayden & Benajah Holcomb. Court Record, Page 22-5 April, 1698: Invt. exhibited, being only personal estate, and that given to the Widow to be at her dispose, the children consenting.

Many online genealogies show Frances Randall Clark as the daughter of Philip Randall. She allegedly married 1) Joseph Clark 2) Thomas Dewey and 3) George Phelps. We have been unable to confirm this through the Dewey Family History, as Thomas Dewey's wifes maiden name is not mentioned.
Philip Randall in his will mentions the children of his dau Phillury and George Phelps, but he does not mention the children of Frances and Thomas Dewey. That would imply that the Frances who married Thomas Dewey was not his daughter.
Also, Clarence Torrey in the NYGBR 59:214-215 shows that the wife of Joseph Clark died before he did. And that the widow Frances Clark who married Thomas Dewey was not previously married to Joseph Clark, her first husband being unknown. Her maiden name is unknown, I can find no valid citation for the use of Randall as a maiden name.
| Unknown, Frances (I4306)

Many online genealogies show William as a possible child of the Widow Demaris Shattuck who first appeared in Salem, Massachusetts in a 1641 church membership record. William's name first appeared in Watertown in a 1643 Watertown Inventory. Other than the same surname, there is no evidence to connect them. There is no evidence of any family association or connection. There has been quite a bit of research done on both William and Demaris without finding any evidence of a connection. | Shattuck, William (I7288)

Many online trees show him as son of John of Scotland and with ancestors for John. I cannot find any sourcing to connect George with this John. There was a John in Deerfield per Savage, even though this source is used I see nothing to connect that John to George or to a father of John. | Alexander, George (I6210)
