Subject: Re: [VANNORMAN] Y-DNA Announcement
To:

My line is from Jacob (Jr.) Van Arnam (1773) who between 1804-1810 with his
brothers Richard and John claimed free land in the vicinity of Kingston, ON,
as sons of Jacob (Sr.) Van Arnam, Brunswick, NY, a Loyalist Ensign during
the Revolution. Although their name was Van Arnam it was often transcribed
as Van Ornam/Orman/Norman. About half of Jacob (Jr.)'s kids eventually
migrated to Illinois, perhaps as a result of the Panic of 1837; one
definitely in connection with Dunscomb's Rebellion. This line is traceable
back to 1664, New Amsterdam, however at least one and perhaps three early
collateral lines are still missing.

There is a second family named Van Norman (Joseph and Benjamin) out of
Pennsylvania by way of Western New York who settled around Brantsford, ON,
to smelt iron ore around 1825. They may descend from a guy named Joseph Van
Norman who lived in the Minisinck area of New York, Pennsylvania and New
Jersey about 1750 but it dead ends there. Many believe he was the son of
Samuel Van Amen/Naamen who married Sara Delmontainie. Maybe he was but all
of this descent looks to trace to a book on the Montaigne family published
over 100 years ago which doesn't seem to cite any authority for it.There
are enough specific early birth dates associated with this family that I
suspect there is or was at one time a family Bible somewhere. However, I've never
seen it or even reference to it.

The question is whether these are two distinct families or one long-separated?
The answer is there's not enough information yet.

Harold H. Felsing

May 7, 1926 May 5, 2012

Harold H. Felsing of Waukesha died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at home at the age of 85. He was born May 7, 1926, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Felsing in Lincoln, Neb. Harold proudly served in the South Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a devout member of Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Mercedes, whom he married June 14, 1947, in Coleman; his son, Grant (Sheryl) Felsing of Hartland; his grandchildren, Stacy and Aaron Felsing, both of Hartland; his sister, Irene Worster of Portland, Ore.; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Monday, May 21, at Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3031 Summit Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Eric Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the church (please see address above). Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, Cremation and Pre-Planning Services is serving the family. For an online obituary or to leave a message of condolence, please visit www.WaukeshasFuneralHome.com, or call 542-6609.
Felsing, Harold (I4673)

5798 We are uncertain if the record of a marriage between Phillippe Randole and Joann Fush in Allington, Dorset, England on 10 APR 1608 refers to this Philip Randall or not. Fush, Joane (I2492)

5799 We are uncertain if the record of a marriage between Phillippe Randole and Joann Fush in Allington, Dorset, England refers to this Philip Randall. Many online genealogies show Frances Randall as the daughter of Philip. She allegedly married 1) Joseph Clark 2) Thomas Dewey and 3) George Phelps. We have been unable to confirm this through the Dewey Family History, as Thomas Dewey's wifes maiden name is not mentioned.

Philip Randall in his will mentions the children of his dau Phillury and George Phelps, but he does not mention the children of Frances and Thomas Dewey. That would tend to imply that the Frances who married Thomas Dewey was not his daughter.

Also, Clarence Torrey in the NYGBR 59:214-215 shows that The wife of Joseph Clark died before he did. And that the widow Frances Clark who married Thomas Dewey was not previously married to Joseph Clark, her first husband being unknown.
Randall, Philip (I2647)

5800 We believe Anthony had died by 1882 as his name was reused for the birth of Tonda (Czech for Tony) in 1882. We believe Anthony Frana listed as dying in Chicago 8/10/1881 is the correct death record. Frana, Anthony {Anton} (I5232)
