The family in America dates from Joseph Norbury, a school-master, who came from England, in 1753, to Cape May County, New Jersey. Here, in 1758, he married Lydia Doubleday (a descendant of John Howland of the Pilgrim Mayflower colony of Massachusetts). Joseph Norbury, with his wife, later lived in Cumberland County, New Jersey, where their son, Heath Norbury, was born January 25, 1760. Joseph Norbury died in November, 1769. Heath Norbury became a "school-master" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There he married, June 12, 1783, Susanna Britt, of Philadelphia of Quaker descent; also a descendant of the Swedish colony of Delaware. Heath Norbury was public spirited and interested in the social welfare of the community. During the prevalence of the cholera (1793) and later of the yellow fever (1799) epidemics in Philadelphia he was steward of the Philadelphia Hospital Lazaretto on Tinicum Island, Delaware River. He was also a member of the Board of Health of Philadelphia. The Lazaretto on Tinicum Island cared for the afflicted patients during the prevalence of these epidemics. In the epidemic of cholera in 1793 it was Stephen Girard who largely financed, individually directed, and participated in the relief activities. It is said that this was the only time that "Stephen Girard came out of his shell." He was a taciturn, recluse type of man; the wealthiest citizen of Philadelphia. He was the founder of Girard college and established the "Girard Estate," which today is the greatest financial institution in Philadelphia. The city of Philadelphia memorialized Heath Norbury by Resolutions for his unselfish devotion and fearless activity during the prevalence of these epidemics. (These resolutions are in possession of the family). He is buried in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, in the cemetery where rest the remains of Joseph Priestly, the discoverer of oxygen. Heath Norbury's wife, Susanna Britt, was a daughter of John and Mary Britt of Philadelphia, Quakers. Mary Britt was the sister of Col. Daniel Britt, of the Continental Army of the Revolution, who saw service under General Wayne, principally on the western frontier.

Child of Edward Grant Gordon and Pansy Evelyn Chapman. He was adopted by Pansy's second husband, Louis Thaller.
Obituary on findagrave.com:
Terry, (Gordon), 63, of Shepherd, lost his long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on Monday, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services for Terry were held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, Mt. Pleasant, on Saturday, January 15th with Rev. Ronald Lance officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Terry was the son of the late Edward Grant Gordon and Pansy Evelyn (Gordon) Thaller. Terry was adopted by his step-father, the late Louis Martin Thaller at the age of 5.
Terry married the love of his life, Marlene Jones, on May 12, 1967 in Raleigh, North Carolina while serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg.
Terry attended Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1965. At the end of his junior year, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a Paratrooper, parachute rigger and infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division. Terry served overseas duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967.
After serving his country, Terry returned home to start his long and successful career as a Sheet Metal Worker. He served a 4-year apprenticeship and received his journeyman's card from Local 7, Lansing, MI. As a young boy Terry worked alongside his step-father Louis at Thaller's Eastside Sheet Metal and Heating in Mt. Pleasant.
Terry's training and experience led to many supervisory positions over the years. Various employers included: Associated Mechanical Services, Midland, MI; Cooney Engineering, Saginaw, MI; Zack Company, Flint, MI; McCormick Enterprises, Inc., Delton, MI; Bruno Martin, Saginaw, MI; and Applegate Sheet Metal and Heating, Jackson, MI. Terry was also Heating Inspector for Chippewa Township for several years.
In the last position of his sheet metal career, Terry was Project Executive on the Charlotte Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. Terry enjoyed golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, remodeling his home, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His love and devotion for his wife, four sons, and grandchildren was unfailing. His sense of humor, jokes and teasing were a large part of who he was.
