WAUKESHA
Harold H. Felsing
May 7, 1926 May 5, 2012
Harold H. Felsing of Waukesha died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at home at the age of 85. He was born May 7, 1926, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Felsing in Lincoln, Neb. Harold proudly served in the South Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a devout member of Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha.
Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Mercedes, whom he married June 14, 1947, in Coleman; his son, Grant (Sheryl) Felsing of Hartland; his grandchildren, Stacy and Aaron Felsing, both of Hartland; his sister, Irene Worster of Portland, Ore.; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Monday, May 21, at Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3031 Summit Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Eric Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Coleman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the church (please see address above). Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, Cremation and Pre-Planning Services is serving the family. We are not sure when the change from wife 1 to wife 2 occurred. In 1850 and1857 census he was with his 2nd wife. That leaves the maternal parentage of the children born between 1835 and 1850 in doubt. | Johannes, Johann Heinrich (I3187)

We are uncertain if the record of a marriage between Phillippe Randole and Joann Fush in Allington, Dorset, England on 10 APR 1608 refers to this Philip Randall or not. | Fush, Joane (I2340)
|
| 8252 |
We are uncertain if the record of a marriage between Phillippe Randole and Joann Fush in Allington, Dorset, England refers to this Philip Randall. Many online genealogies show Frances Randall as the daughter of Philip. She allegedly married 1) Joseph Clark 2) Thomas Dewey and 3) George Phelps. We have been unable to confirm this through the Dewey Family History, as Thomas Dewey's wifes maiden name is not mentioned.
Philip Randall in his will mentions the children of his dau Phillury and George Phelps, but he does not mention the children of Frances and Thomas Dewey. That would tend to imply that the Frances who married Thomas Dewey was not his daughter.
Also, Clarence Torrey in the NYGBR 59:214-215 shows that The wife of Joseph Clark died before he did. And that the widow Frances Clark who married Thomas Dewey was not previously married to Joseph Clark, her first husband being unknown. | Randall, Philip (I2592)

We do have a record of a Katherine Hulse born NY in 1795 to Thomas Huls. But is this the same person?
On the 1850 census the households after Joshua & Catherine Rawling are Gilbert Hulse, Jabez Hulse and Reuben Hulse. According to the Hulse Web Site these 3 Hulse's along with Katherine match up by name and age and birthstate with 4 of the children of Thomas Hulse and Leah Weatherby. Therefore we conclude that Katherine is indeed the child of Thomas Hulse. Also telling is the fact that their son Jabez is given the middle name of Weatherby, apparently named after Katherine's mother. | Hulse, Katherine (I3669)

We do not have definitive proof that the Anna Margaretha Weigandt born 1823 in Kukkus to Johannes Weigandt is the same person as the Anna Margaretha Weigandt born 1823 who married Johannes Reitz. However, circumstantially it makes sense. We have the same name, the same birth year, the same village and the continuity of that name and age through the 3 Kukkus censuses of 1834, 1850 and 1857.
Records from this time and place are simply incomplete. But based on what we know, it is most likely that Anna Margaretha Weigandt is the daughter of Johannes Weigandt. Perhaps eventually we will find records to confirm or to dispute that, but for now I am listing Anna Margaretha in the genealogy under Johannes Weigandt.

We do not have proof that the Katharina Elisabeth Reifschneider who married Johann Heinrich Felsing in Kukkus is the same Katharina Elisabeth Reifschneider who appears on the 1857 Kukkus census as age 15. We have a contradiction here. As per the 1798 Kukkus census, 3 yr old Barbara was the child of a deceased wife, not of the current wife. As per the 1798 Laub movement chart Maria Magdalena Friedrich of Laub married August Klemm of Kukkus in 1793. Obviously, one of the records is incorrect. Was Barbara older than 3, is the marriage date wrong or is the 'child of deceased wife' note incorrect?

We have the Campbell and Lounsbury families moving from Brant, Ontario to Clare County, Michigan. The naming patterns are very similar between the Lounsbury's in Ontario and the Lounsbury and Campbell families in Clare County. It is very possible that two Campbell brothers (John Alexander and Horatio) married two Lounsbury sisters (Mary C and Sarah) and then both families moved to Clare County. Several on-line trees show these relationships, but I have not yet found explicit proof.
The name Sarah Lounsbury appears on George Campbell, Alexander Campbell and Major Campbell marriage record. The name Lounsburg appears on Harriet Campbell death record.
Some genealogies have her born nov 1828 in Brant County, Ontario.
The book "Some Descendants of Richard Lounsberry" by John Freund shows William B Lounsbury and Sarah Cory having a daughter Sarah in 1833, but no spouse is given.
"Cory's of America Ancestors and Descendants" compiled by Al Bertus Cory, 1991 edition. On p.25 Sarah dau of Thomas Cory married William Launsbury; Their child #6, Sarah married Horatio Campbell and they lived in Michigan.
Sarahs death certificate lists Edward Lounsbury as father, but the first name could be an error, or it could invalidate the hints in the previous paragraphs? | Lounsbury, Sarah (I5171)

We know from Edmunds will that he had a son named Levi. We also know from Lydia Sherman that she had a father named Levi. There are multiple Levi's with different birth and death dates and scant records on them. Abigail is the spouse of one of them, so she may not be right. We do know that the DNA flows through Edmund, thru his son Levi and then through Lydia, as we have multiple matches to this line.
Levi Sherman in Cayuga County last appears on the 1810 census. His son, Levi gives birthdates of 1810 (in 1816), 1817 (in 1860), 1815 (in 1870) and 1810 (in 1880). Thus levi died, say 1810-1817.
Levi's daughter Lydia was born in Vermont. Levi (of Danby, Vt) & Abigail married in Strafford, Vermont.
Abigails gravestone (pic on findagrave) is is inscribed "In Memory of
Abigail, Consort of Levi
Sherman, who died June
2nd, 1791, aged 40 years"
FamilySearch has birth of 1741, based on 1744 baptism at age of 3 in British Colonial North America. No source given.
Family Search has marr to Abigail in 1784. No source given.
Another Levi Sherman (son of Daniel & Ruth Howard) was b. 3 Sep 1776 in Danby, according to birth records. Family search shows he is the one who married Aurilli Pennock.

We know from the Felsing Surname Chart that our Great, Great Grandfather Johannes Felsing b.1811 married Maria Elisabeth Kisselman b. 1814. What clues can we find to the parentage of Maria Elisabeth?
The 1798 Kukkus Census shows only one Kisselman family in Kukkus, and that family is living in the Gottfried Maser household (Household #44). That would be Martin Kisselmann b. 1772 (from Balzer) who married the daughter of Gottfried Maser, Anna Barbara b. 1775. They have one child Anna Maria b. 1795. We find a note in the Balzer movement chart, that Martin Kisselman moved to Kukkus in 1793.
(As an interesting sidenote, we also see on the Balzer movement chart that Christoph Hergenroeder and family moved from Balzer to Kukkus in 1790-Christoph is the great grandfather of Johannes b.1811)
On the 1816/1834 census we again find only one Kisselmann family (household #17); Johann Martin Kisselmann b.1772. Even though he does not have a spouse living with him, or a daughter named Anna Maria, I think that it is clear that he is the same person whom we found in the 1798 census. We find one son Gottfried living with him along with some grandchildren and their spouses.
Some notes on the format of the 1816/1834 census. What we see is a supposedly complete listing of the 1834 population along with some 1816 information on the 1834 people if they were alive and in Kukkus in 1816. However this seems to apply best to males. Females who have married and changed their surname prior to the 1834 census do not appear with any 1816 information. Whereas males do appear. So what we have is a supposedly complete 1834 listing, but an incomplete 1816 listing.
With that in mind we would not expect to see a listing for Maria Elisabeth Kisselman born in 1814 on the 1816/1834 Kukkus Census. She would be 2 years old in 1816, but most likely is married and has a different surname in 1834. So we would expect to see her only as a spouse in 1834 without her maiden name and we would therefore not expect to see any information listed for 1816.
We do see an Elisabeth b. 1814 married to Johannes Felsing (interestingly living only 2 households from the Kisselmann household). We know from the Felsing Surname Chart that Johannes married Maria Elisabeth Kisselmann b. 1814.
(another sidebar note: The Elisabeth Kisselman b. 6 Oct 1834 who is Dan's ancestor almost certainly has to be the same as the Elisabeth Kisselman age ¼ who is the daughter of Gottfried living in the Johann Martin Kisselman household. The Schengel household is in between the Kisselmann and Felsing household as you pointed out earlier. With the name, age and closeness of households I am certain she is the same person. Also we know she was born in Kukkus and when. Looking at the supposedly complete census for 1834 there is only one person who fits the bill. I have merged her in our database as the correct person.)
Consider that between 1798 and 1834 we only find evidence of one Kisselmann household in Kukkus. Consider that we only find a record of one male in Kukkus who was of an age to have a daughter born in 1814 and that male would be Johann Martin Kisselmann. Consider that the Felsing and Kisselmann households on the census are only separated by the Schengel household. If Maria Elisabeth was born in Kukkus, I would say it is almost certain that she would have been the daughter of Johann Martin. The other alternative would be that the wife of Johannes moved from another nearby colony and therefore was not the daughter of Johann Martin. The 1798 census index provided by Brent Mai shows the name Kisselmann also appearing in the colonies of Anton, Balzer, Donhof and Grimm. So it would certainly have been possible that she could have been born elsewhere.
My personal conclusion is that the wife of Johannes Felsing is indeed the daughter of Johann Martin Kisselmann. And therefore also the aunt of the Elisabeth Kisselman who is Dan's ancestor and who died in AuGres in 1918. However, at this point, because we have no evidence that Johann Martin even had a daughter named Maria Elisabeth, other than our intelligent deductions, I don't feel we can add that relationship into our database. Also we can we be sure when Anna Barbara Maser died and if she was the mother of Maria Elisabeth.
As we know Gottfried Maser is the great, great grandfather of Elisabeth Reitz. We now see that our grandfather may also have the same great, great grandfather. Therefore our Grandpa married his third cousin!

We only know this person by name through a note in the 1798 census as the deceased father of Johann Georg. Based on the date of birth of Johann Georg, 1784, his father had to be born prior to 1767, thus he had to be listed on the 1767 census. There were two Felsing(er) familes on the 1767 census and each has one possible match to Johannes. Johann Georg Felsinger born 1761, appears on the 1798 Krasnoyar census as the deceased father of Konrad Felsinger born 1784. Johann Konrad Felsing born 1759, appears on the 1767 Paulskaya census, but appears nowhere in 1798.
Johannes Felsing was the deceased husband of the deceased first wife (name unknown) of Johann Peter Debus according to the note on the entry for his son Johann Georg (who was living in the household of Johann Peter Debus) in the 1798 census. Johann Peter Debus had a son with his second wife in 1791, which implies that his first wife died before 1791. His first wife only married Johann Peter after her first husband Johannes had died, therefore Johannes had to die before 1791, most likely a few years before. As his son was born 1784, his death date had to be between 1784 and 1791. | Felsing, Johannes (I22108)

Johannes was the deceased husband of the deceased first wife of Johann Peter Debus according to the note on the entry for his son Johann Georg (who was living in the household of Johann Peter Debus) in the 1798 census. Johann Peter Debus had a son with his second wife in 1791, which means that his first wife died before 1791. His first wife only married Johann Peter after her first husband Johannes had died, therefore Johannes had to die before 1791, most likely a few years before. As his son was born 1784, his death date had to be between 1784 and 1791. | Felsing, Johannes (I5633)

We strongly suspect that The Anna Margaretha Heinrich born 1822 and showing on the Kukkus 1834 census as the daughter of Wilhelm Anton Heinrich is the same person as the Anna Margaretha Heinrich born 1822 and showing on the Kukkus 1850 census as spouse of Johann Heinrich Krumm and also the same person as the Anna Margaretha Heinrich born 1822 and showing on the 1857 Kukkus census as the wife of Konrad Maser based on the following facts:
1) Joahnn Heinrich Krumm died 1849 and his widow Anna Margaretha is living in 1850 in household 87 with two Krumm children, Johannes and Christina.Konrad Maser, a widower, is living in HH 90. All of this per the 1850 Kukkus census.
2) In 1857 the Krumm children, Johannes and Christina are living in what was household 87 (called HH 100 in 1857) alone, aged 14 and 12. Anna Margaretha is living three Households away in HH 103 with Konrad Maser. In 1850, Konrad Maser lived in HH 90 as a widower. In 1857 HH 90 is relabeled as HH 103. In 1850 the widow and widower are living 3 households apart. In 1857 the children are still in the same Krumm household, but Anna has moved in with the widower in the Maser household.
3) The continuity of the same name, same birth year and same village on 3 consecutive censuses in Kukkus, 1834, 1850 and 1857 strongly suggests that all 3 entries refer to the same person.
Records from this time and place are simply incomplete. But based on what we know, it is most likely that Anna Margaretha is the daughter of Wilhelm Anton. Perhaps eventually we will find records to confirm or to dispute that, but for now I am listing Anna Margaretha in the genealogy under Wilhelm Anton Heinrich. | Heinrich, Anna Margaretha (I5516)

We strongly suspect that The Anna Margaretha Kukkus born 1800 is the daughter of Johann Philip Kukkus based on the following facts:
1) On the 1798 census their was only one Kukkus surnamed family in the Volga colonies. That was Johann Philip Kukkus of the village of Kukkus. That is the only family she could have come out of.
2) However, within that family, Johann Philip did have some teenage sons. Konrad age 19 in 1800 and Johannes age 16 in 1800. It is possible that one of them could have been the father. Then Johann Philip would be the grandfather.
But with that possibility in mind, i think that it is more likely that Anna Margaretha was the daughter of Johann Philip.
Records from this time and place are simply incomplete. But based on what we know, it is most likely that Anna Margaretha is the daughter of Johann Philip. Perhaps eventually we will find records to confirm or to dispute that, but for now I am listing Anna Margaretha in the genealogy under Johann Philip Kukkus. | Kukkus, Anna Margaretha (I24062)

Widow of Thomas Beardsley. Marriage records show 2 entries for the marriage to Thomas Beardsley, both the same date 20 Mar 1649/50. One says Elizabeth Harvey and Thomas Beardsley. The other says Elizabeth Hervey and Thomas Beazley.
Many online trees show Elizabeth as daughter of Richard Harvey. This is incorrect, Richard's daughter Elizabeth was born 1644 (way to young to marry in 1650 )and married John Hide. | Harvey, Elizabeth (I8188)
