Herman was born to Charles and Margaret Kisling.
Herman was a life long resident of Fresno County. He grew up in the Caruthers-Easton area and graduated from Caruthers High School in 1937. He was active in sports and student government.
Herman was a veteran of World War II. He was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and worked in the Al-Can Highway before deployment to Europe. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon discharge from the Army, he ran Mitchell-Kisling Warehouse in LeGrand.
He married Emma Scheidt on May 27, 1950.
He returned to Fresno and was a driver-salesman for several beer distributors. He retired in 1983.
Herman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He took pride in his family and his Volga German heritage. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his grandchildren.
Herman is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elsie Mitchell; and brother, Richard Kisling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma; daughter, Janet Melton and her husband Charles, and their children Rebecca, Stephanie and Charles Andrew; daughter, Marlene Jensen and her husband Dan, and their children, Eric and Jeff and his wife Jodie; and their expectant great-grandson.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Thursday, May 8, 2008, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Friday, May 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
Remembrances may be made to donor's favortie charity.
