Sponsor this page Peter Sommer Sr. Funeral services for Peter Sommer Sr., 82, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Converse Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Moore of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Sommer died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995, at Michael Manor in Douglas. He was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Lincoln, Neb., to Peter George and Mary (Maser) Sommer. He was reared and educated in Morrill, Neb. He farmed with his family near Morrill until 1945. He married Treva Coffin on Aug. 19, 1945, in Kimball, Neb. They farmed at Lyman, Morrill and Gibbon, Neb., until 1964. They moved to Douglas and he began working for the Gene L. Payne Sr. Implement Dealership as parts man. He finished his career as a parts man with Lathrop Implement Dealership in Casper, retiring in 1978. Mr. Sommer then moved to Mesa, Ariz., for his retirement and returned to Douglas in 1992. He was a charter member of the Douglas Lions Club and a past member of the International Order of Odd Fellows in Douglas. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, word puzzles and his pets. He is survived by his wife Treva of Douglas; children Janice Clutter of Douglas and Peter Sommer Jr. of Crete, Neb.; sisters Marie Lippincott of Huntley, Lydia Heimbouch of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Esther Bode of Lyman, Neb.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother George Sommer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Phil Clutter, Scott Clutter, Todd Clutter, Darrin Clutter, Diane Clutter and Jodi Watson.
