  Child of Edward Grant Gordon and Pansy Evelyn Chapman. He was adopted by Pansy's second husband, Louis Thaller. Obituary on findagrave.com: Terry, (Gordon), 63, of Shepherd, lost his long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on Monday, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Terry were held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, Mt. Pleasant, on Saturday, January 15th with Rev. Ronald Lance officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Mt. Pleasant. Terry was the son of the late Edward Grant Gordon and Pansy Evelyn (Gordon) Thaller. Terry was adopted by his step-father, the late Louis Martin Thaller at the age of 5. Terry married the love of his life, Marlene Jones, on May 12, 1967 in Raleigh, North Carolina while serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg. Terry attended Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1965. At the end of his junior year, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a Paratrooper, parachute rigger and infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division. Terry served overseas duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967. After serving his country, Terry returned home to start his long and successful career as a Sheet Metal Worker. He served a 4-year apprenticeship and received his journeyman's card from Local 7, Lansing, MI. As a young boy Terry worked alongside his step-father Louis at Thaller's Eastside Sheet Metal and Heating in Mt. Pleasant. Terry's training and experience led to many supervisory positions over the years. Various employers included: Associated Mechanical Services, Midland, MI; Cooney Engineering, Saginaw, MI; Zack Company, Flint, MI; McCormick Enterprises, Inc., Delton, MI; Bruno Martin, Saginaw, MI; and Applegate Sheet Metal and Heating, Jackson, MI. Terry was also Heating Inspector for Chippewa Township for several years. In the last position of his sheet metal career, Terry was Project Executive on the Charlotte Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. After a year and a half in this position, he retired due to health concerns. Terry will always be remembered for his high quality of craftsmanship, friendly rapport with his co-workers, and excellent work ethic. Terry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Borley-Hanel Post 3033 and a lifetime member of the Forgotten Eagles. Terry was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 7 and the Sheet Metal International Association. He was also a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Mt. Pleasant. Terry enjoyed golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, remodeling his home, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His love and devotion for his wife, four sons, and grandchildren was unfailing. His sense of humor, jokes and teasing were a large part of who he was. The courage and character in which he faced his illness, his "never give up the fight" attitude was incredible. His faith in God, his love and kindness will be remembered by many. Terry is survived by his wife Marlene of 43 years; his loving mother Pansy Thaller of Mt. Pleasant; children, Terry (Renee) Thaller, Jr. of Lake Isabella, Pat (Kristin) Thaller of Mt. Pleasant, Jeffrey (Tami) Thaller, Sr. of Shepherd, and Jason (Pam) Thaller of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Amanda Thaller, Ashley Thaller, Terrianne Thaller, Zackary Thaller, Camieo Thaller, Wyatt Thaller, Tiffani Jackson, Billy LaFountain, Jeffrey Thaller, Jr., Jesse Thaller, Jason Thaller, Jr., and Nikki Miller; great-grandchildren, James Donley and Peyton Rose Thaller. Terry is also survived by his brother Tim Thaller of Coleman; sisters, Linda (Bill) Wohlscheid of Mt. Pleasant, Louanna (Bill) Burch of Mt. Pleasant, and Kathy (Jim) Murphy of Shepherd; and mother-in-law Christine Jones; sisters-in-law, Helen (Ray) Bowen and Ann (Bennie) Peace; and brother-in-law Jesse J.B. Jones, all of North Carolina. Terry is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other caring friends, relatives, and neighbors. Terry was preceded in death by his father Edward Gordon; step-father Louis Thaller; father-in-law Jesse Jones; and sister-in-law Vicky Jones.
