4/16/08-Terry had a conversation with Dorothy Seeley (daughter of Harry Seeley)-The only thing she remembers about her Gramma Seeley (Harriet Schultz Seeley) is that she laid in bed upstairs at uncle Clarence's house ill. She used to moan and yell out. Her funeral home record says she died of paralysis so probably had stroke at some time??
4/16/08-Terry had conversation with Phyllis Watson and Dorothy Seeley--Harriet and George II Seeley are buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery. There is a grave marker according to both Phyllis and Dorothy. It is just a flat brick like marker with their names on it. They both think they could find it if we were to go to the cemetery. So that is a project we want to do. Dorothy said seems like it is by a big tree. I had looked in the past for their graves but assumed there was no marker since I could not find it. (update: got location of grave plot from historical society. It is under a big tree, but there are no gravestones there. Stone apparently was removed.)

per Terry-He lived the rest of his life at 1601 Wilson St. His obituary states he had been a foundry worker. He was born 29 Aug 1890 Bay City and died 25 Jun 1980. I have a note that he was a Grey Iron Foundry Superintent in Saginaw MI. Wife is Anna Janiskee. I think I have info on their marriage somewhere and a death notice on his wife who died after him. No kids. Clarence had his mother live with him. The Bay County Historial Museum had documentation that Clarence took care of graves at the Pine Ridge cemetary prior to 1935. His parents are supposed to be buried there. Also was a mentio to Lot number 1454 86 on Aug 9th 1884. Not sure what that is about. I know in 1884 Clarence's uncle Frederick Seeley died.

Had 2 daughters Vi (Jr) who married Mr. Smith. Mom said her obit was in the Newspaper maybe 2 months ago (Bay City). Other daugher is Dorothy still living I believe.
I talked to Harry, obviously before 1991, and he told me he was just a tiny kid when his dad died and he knows nothing about nothing when it comes to his parents and grandparents. So got no where with him. He ran a saw mill on the Saginaw River just off of Water Street in Bay City near the Lafefette bridge. That is where I found him, too, that day.

BIRTH: 03 Aug 1898 in Bay City, MI per Terry---Mabel according to everyone in the family was born July 1, 1900. But the 1900 census says she was one year old in May of 1900. Mom swears her birthday is July 1st 1900. However, Bay City birth records show the true birth date. The 1900 Census says born July 1899. It is odd that when the month and year is given on such a young person, it could be a year off. Although I have seen that before and upon thinking about it I can understand how it could happen. Assume Mabel was born in July 1898 (the date of record over a year later could have been a few days off). Census taker asks on June 19, 1900 how old is Mabel? correct answer is 1, because she has not reached her second birthday, yet. The census taker asks what month was she born? Correct answer is July. I can then see the census taker writing down July 1899 because that was about 1 year ago. I don't know if that makes sense, but I have seen other children listed one year off, when it just didn't make sense that the parent would be a year off on the birthdate, especially such a young child.

He was in Bay City. He went to a gas station (probably to rob it??) anyway he took the gas station attendent hostage. He went to Detroit before he let the gas station attendent go. I think they said he gave him money to get a bus home. Anyway.. gas attendent was George Seeley III. This happened in the 1920's. The gas station was at 124 Garfield in Bay City. For some reason the address was remembered in the story. Mom once told me years ago a story that she thought someone was held up at gunpoint but thought the person died. I never could find any story to that. But I may not have been looking right. She was not sure about the story and who the relative was. So I wonder if this is the story. She told me tonight it kinda sounds familiar at least the kidnapping part of it. I would think the newspaper would have a story about it.
George Seeley III died of respiratory paralysis per funeral home record. He fell down a flight of stairs at his home and broke his neck. Mom thought she had told me that before. Well the more I think about it, I think she did tell me. I am getting very forgetful anymore.
George Seeley III was a joker. Always kidding you said Dorothy. He used to say you are not a Seeley, you are a VonZulch. Dorothy said they all thought he was joking. Dorothy said that none of them thought there was anything to his VonZulch comments. He would say it often.
Carl Woodard is George Seeley's step son that killed himself. His wife Elsie Woodward was divorced. George Seeley III nickname was Spike Seeley.""

Baranek, Dorothy June "Dot" Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Baranek, age 90 years, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016. She was born in Bay City, Michigan on September 1, 1925 to the late Harry and Viola (Bebb) Seeley. Dorothy was a member of All Saints Parish-St. James Church and worked for many years in the Bay Medical Center Gift Shop. On September 7, 1946, she married Bernard Baranek and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2010. She is survived by her children: Barbara (James) Watson, Pastor Michael (Toni) Baranek, David Baranek, Richard (Patti) Baranek and Lori (Mike) Davis, her grandchildren: Wendi (Anthony) Lebron, Carrie (Brett) Rix, Kayla (Grant) Gallant, and Melissa (Bill) Terwillegar, her step-grandchildren: Melissa Watson, Emily Watson, Aron (Fily) Davis and Neil (Julie) Davis, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Baby David Baranek and a sister, Violet Smith. Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Parish-St. James Church. The Rev. Fr. Robert Deland will preside. Private entombment will be in St. Patrick's Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. NAME: Betty Mae Osborne. Betty's original registration of birth has her name spelled wrong... Bettie May Osborne. I remember mom some years back saying she went to the court house to get her name spelled right on her birth certificate because it would mess up her social security. Her school records listed her as Betty Mae Osborne. Her school record in 1930 lists her as going to Fremont School in Bay City with an address of 1218 Marsac St. Her birth certificate was corrected on Feb 7, 1984. The school records are some of the things she used to prove how she spelled her name.

PARENTS: Mother Mabel Fern Seeley. DNA tests have shown that her biological father was not Norman Osborne who was married to her mother and who raised her. DNA tests have shown that her biological father was Glaud Phelps. Some of the DNA tests consist of the following:
William Pugh, Jr whose mother was Doris Phelps (grandson of Levi and Anna; and child of Alvin) His DNA at 541 cM’s matching is consistent with 1st cousin once removed. This would mean that my mother’s father is a brother of Alvin Phelps.
Randy Gulick (grandson of Levi and Anna’s daughter Lydia) at 291 cM’s matching DNA. This is consistent with the lower end of a 1st cousin once removed relationship. This also means that my mother’s father is a brother of Lydia Phelps.
Harold Gulick (son of Levi and Anna’s daughter Lydia). This match was at 874 cM’s, which is a first cousin match. This also means that my mother’s father is a brother of Lydia Phelps.
Mooremaggie23 is a granddaughter of Glaud’s son Frederick. If mother was a child of Glaud, then Frederick would be a ½ brother, his child would be a ½ niece, and his grandchild would be a ½ grandniece. The match was 430 cM’s, which is fully consistent with a match of ½ grandniece.

OBITUARY: Betty M. Felsing, 91, of Au Gres, Michigan passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Michigan.

Betty was born December 26, 1924 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Norman W. and Mabel F. (Seeley) Osborne. She married Ervin Felsing on February 24, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan and together they raised two children, Richard and Terry.

Betty owned and operated Betty’s Boutique in Au Gres for many years. She enjoyed sewing and baking. Her beloved brownies will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom looked forward to devouring them. Betty was a member of Au Gres United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her children, Richard (Judy) Felsing of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Terry (Dan) Heinrich of Au Gres, Michigan; six grandchildren, Tonya (Garrett) Badour, Karen (Ken Weiss) Heinrich, Jaime (Ron Markey) Roth, Lynn (Fred) Gauthier, Tina (Stu) Forman, Renee (Jim) Kage; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Dick Osborne; sister-in-law, Shirley Osborne. In addition to her husband, Ervin, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, Norm, and Bob.

Visitation for Betty will take place 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres, Michigan. Funeral service for Betty will take place 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery in Au Gres next to her husband, Ervin. SANDFORD, Donald J. - Of Flint, age 65, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 1PM Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Berniece A. Matejcek officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. Those desiring may make contributions to the Shriners Children's Hospital. Visitation 1-8PM Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Donald was born in Oakland, California on December 3, 1939. He married Rita Thomas on June 15, 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and the Flint Park Hunt Club. He enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time with his friends. Mr. Sandford retired from GM Truck and Bus and was a member of the UAW Local #598 Retirees. Surviving are wife, Rita; 2 daughters, Renee Sandford, Jennifer and husband Thomas Windle, all of Flushing; son, Daniel and girlfriend, Denise of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Brittany and Gabrielle Sandford, Brian and Nicole Windle; father, Osman of Gladwin; sisters, Ruth Ann, Kim, Margo and Sue; brother, Tom; several nephews and a niece; mother-in-law, Olga Thomas of Flint; sisters-in-law, Bethany Lenhart of Flushing, Jacqueline and husband Ken Paul of Fenton, Joanne and husband Donald Beauchamp of Flint. He was preceded in death by mother, Dorothy Cheney Rodocker; brother, Robert and father-in-law, John Thomas.
