3864 Story taken from the Monday, September 17, 1934 edition of The Ludington Daily News, Ludington, Mason County, MI, USA: Held for Slaying over Dollar Bill. STANDISH, Sept. 17. -(AP)- Walter Plebam, 40, was held in Arenac county jail today in connection with the death of Andrew Krum, 45, who died after an alleged fight over a dollar bill Sunday night. A hearing for the prisoner was set for today. Plebam told Sheriff John Johannes that Krum, a widower and father of three children, had accused him of stealing a doller from his (Krum's) pocket when the two men met in Twining Sunday night. The sheriff said Plebam told him he became angry, picked up a stick at the roadside near the Twining race track and hit Krum on the head.

Story taken from the Tuesday, September 18, 1934 edition of The Detroit Free Press, Detroit, Wayne County, MI, USA: One Is Killed in Fight Over a Dollar Bill - STANDISH, Sept. 17. -(A. P.)- Walter Plebam, 40 years old, was held in the Arenac County Jail Monday in connection with the death of Andrew Krum, 45, who died after a fight over a dollar bill Sunday night. Plebam told Sheriff John Johannes that Krum, a widower and father of three children, had accused him of stealing a doller from his (Krum's) pocket when the two men met in Twining Sunday night. He then left the village and started for his farm home in Twining Township, Plebam related, but Krum followed and continued his accusation. The sheriff said the Plebam told him that he then became angry, picked up a stick at the roadside near the Twining race track and hit Krum on the head. Charles Hollister, Arenac County farmer, had followed the pair and reached the scene a few minutes after Krum had been felled, his neck broken. Hollister carried Krum's body back to Twining and summoned Deputy Sheriff John Streeter. Plebam returned to the village with Hollister.

3871 Surname is Hergenroeder per 1886 family list. Hergenroeder, Katharina (I12818)

3872 Surname is implied by determining her sons surname from his entry in the 1850 census. On the 1834 census her son is listed only as Georg Adam, the illegitimate son of Johann Friedrich Habermann's deceased wife, Sophia. Her surname is not given. The 1850 census lists his name as Georg Adam Kriess. The 1857 census lists it as Georg Adam K???. The illegitimacy can also imply that the 3 children Haberman had prior to 1822 were from an unknown deceased first wife and then he remarried, after 1822, a woman with an illegitimate child.

Perhaps died by 1826 with no children from Habermann - See notes under Johann Friedrich Habermann.
Kries, Katharina Sophia (I3813)

3873 Surname is translated as Rosh in the Russian record, however is most likely actually Maria Elisabeth Ross. Roos, Maria Elisabeth (I4278)

3877 Tannya Goodman Notes:
She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheridan, Wyoming on May 20, 1945, with a confirmation verse of John 3:16. She confessed with her own heart, mind, and mouth the faith into which she was baptized, washed in the blood of the Lamb. See: http://immanuelsheridan.blogspot.com/2010/02/funeral-sermon-for-norma-goodman-22.html

"NOTE: We had a Bill's Norma, Bob's Norma, and Walt's Norma. It was the only way to keep them straight as they all lived in the same town and married Goodmans. Later when Walt's Norma married Howard (Swede) Goodman, she became Swede's Norma."

Obituary for Norma:

Norma Jean Goodman
Norma Jean Goodman, 78, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the Sheridan Manor.

Norma Jean (Deines) Goodman was born April 23, 1931 to Henry and Mary (Hofferber) Deines in Billings, Montana, and moved to Leiter, Wyoming the following year. She attended school in Cadiz, and Clearmont, Wyoming where she graduated High School with a GED in 1951. She married Walter Goodman on November 7, 1948, and they lived and worked at the Burgess Ranch for many years. They divorced in 1976. She married Howard "Swede " Goodman on October 27, 1979 and lived in Casper, Wyoming. Howard died on November 10, 2006, and Norma moved to Sheridan in 2008. She enjoyed gardening and colorful flowers, and watching her favorite television shows "Mash" and " The Golden Girls." Her cats were beloved companions and pampered pets, the luckiest cats in her Casper and Sheridan neighborhoods.

3884 Tannya Goodman: I notice you have Gramma listed as Anna Margaret. I see that on the crossing manifest there were two Annas listed under Conrad. One was Anna Margaret age 14 and Anna age 3. Gramma always said she was two when she came to America. She was born in 1898, they crossed in 1902 so she must be the 3 year old. MY FAMILY, all through the years, aunts, my mom, etc. were told Gramma had no middle name. In fact, she told us that if she had ever had a middle name she would choose Barbara. My Aunt Sadie when they did her obit had the B. added and then notated Barbara on some of the documents. [Families make Genealogy hard].

NOW I'm wondering if the Anna Margaret is Katharina Margaret. Age would be right. She was Conrad's daughter as well per this posting on Kukes Family from Kukuus, Russia Facebook page. Posted by Wladimir Kukus: "Lesley Yates your grandfather, Henry, had another 3 sisters called: 1. Emma Kukus 1886, 2. Katharina Margaret 1887, 3. Elisabeth Kukus born 1892 - died 1895." Posted: October 20, 2013 at 5:43am. Note: Waldimir lives in Germany. I know Emma married a Becker. My Grandmother always mentioned a sister dying before she was born. This fits in time frame. And age is right on Katherina Margaret for the Anna Margaret - 14 years old in crossing manifest.

Story:
Anna (Kukes) Goodman [Adam]

Taped by her granddaughter, Tannya, and typed exactly as she told the story.

My forefathers - you see when Catherine the Great got married, she married a Russian Czar and she promised him she'd take a few of her families over there, you know, settle them there. Where my folks were settled, they used their name for their little town, so it was Kukkes - Kukes we spell it over here. 2-1/2 years old when we come over to the United States.

Married in 1918. It was April Fool's Day. We went to the Courthouse, got married by the Justice of the Peace.

Dances in the kitchen or the bunkerhouse or any place. We didn't have any barn, you know, and things like that.

In '39, the spring of '39, we moved over from Billings to Wyoming. Moved out to Big Horn.

In Portland, Oregon, George had the real small pox. We was under quarantine then. I don't know long. Grampa and Henry Kerbel had to room out. They couldn't come in, you know. We had a sign up. So we had their clothes ready and hand them out to them and they had to find a place to stay.

Side note: Gramma loved to dance. She was popular and it used to make Grampa jealous. They ended up marrying on April 1st because her father wad moving the family to Washington the next day and she wanted to stay with Grampa.

Kukes, Anna Barbara (I10617)

3885 The 1783 birth year on the 1834 census and the surname chart appears to be in error. Her mother would have been 13 when she was born! The age on the 1798 census and the 1850 census is more like it. Perhaps the 1834 entyry was a transcription error and that was then picked up in the surname chart. Heizenraeder, Maria Charlotte (I2188)

3886 The 1811 census lists Sebastien Krumm, Johann Georg Krumm and Johannes Krumm as his step children. The 1798 census states these are the children of deceased Johann Georg Krumm and his widow Anna Margarta Hinkel. That would imply that Marcus Weigand married the widow Anna Margaretha Hinkel between 1798 and 1811. The1834 census lists his wife as Anna Margaretha age 67. Weigandt, Marcus (I3710)

3887 The 1846 Kukkus Family List has this person living in what was HH46 in the 1857 Census (Head at that time was Christian Baum who had died in 1852. The head of household in 1886 is johann Heinrich Baum b. 29 Aug 1856 who was the son of Andreas, the son of Christian. She is listed as a widow. Apparently she married someone in the household after 1857, and he then died. In 1886 she is living in that household as a widow. I am thinking that Elisabeth Baul Detterer is a mis-translation of Elisabeth Baum Detterer. Detterer, Elisabeth Baul (I15502)

3888 The 1886 Kukkus Family List Index # 5 shows shows Katharina Elisabeth b. 29 Sep 1894 as the illigitimate daughter of Susan Katharina Hergenroeder (Anna Maria's sister) Hergenroeder, Anna Maria (I3967)

3889 The 1886 Kukkus Family List Index # 7 shows shows Katharina Elisabeth b. 7 May 1886 as the illigitimate daughter of Anna Maria Hergenroeder (Susanna Katharina's sister) Hergenroeder, Katharina Elisabeth (I3966)

3890 The 1886 Kukkus Family List is unclear if Johannes, Peter and Phillip (the last 3 sons of Johannes) are actually in this family, although it seems likely that they are. Rosenthal, Johannes (I14082)

3891 The 1886 Kukkus Family List is unclear if Johannes, Peter and Phillip (the last 3 sons of Johannes) are actually in this family, although it seems likely that they are. Rosenthal, Peter (I14083)

3892 The 1886 Kukkus Family List is unclear if Johannes, Peter and Phillip (the last 3 sons of Johannes) are actually in this family, although it seems likely that they are. Rosenthal, Phillip (I14084)

3893 The 1886 Kukkus Family List refers to this person as Johannes Heinrich Becker and to his brother born 1846 as Johann Heinrich. Very confusing as they both have a daughter Maria Elisabeth born in 1875. Becker, Johannes Heinrich (I5230)

3894 The 1886 Kukkus Family List shows that the Jakob Becker born 4 July 1900, died in Kukkus on 24 Sep 1902. However the Jakob Becker born 4 July 1900 in Kukkus, left a long paper trail which shows that he lived until 1980. It would appear that the death record in Kukkus is in error. Becker, Jakob (I11296)

3895 The Anna Margaretha Heizenraeder who married Johann Philipp Kukkus has to be the same person as the daughter of Johann Thomas Heizenraeder. There appears to be only one Heizenraeder family in the colonies. Although there is a Heidenreich/Heizenrider family in Walter. Heizenraeder, Anna Margareta (I2189)

3896 The Bertha Reitz who married Theodore Isheim had different parents per Fresno County Marriage Records. Reitz, Bertha (I334)

3897 The birth record has the mother aged 11 when her child was born. An obvious error. Let's say the birth year was actually 1899, which should be close. The mother also married in 1899. Heizenraeder, Heinrich (I14674)

3898 the family moved to america Johannes, Johannes (I1819)

3899 The first wife of Johannes/John Becker (b. 1866/7) is believed to have been an E. "Snyder" based on the death record of Johann/John Heinrich/Henry Becker in 1937. Schneider, E. (I11384)

3900 The gap in children's ages may imply that Anna Barbara died and is not the mother of the younger children. Maser, Anna Barbara (I3860)
