    Obituary taken from the Sunday, August 18, 2002 edition of The Herald-Palladium, Saint Joseph and Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI, USA: BRIDGMAN -- William Freehling, 81, of Bridgman, passed away Sat., Aug. 17, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tues., Aug. 20, at Boyd Funeral Home, a Kraig A. Pike Family Service in Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgman Lions Club or the Crossroads. Mr. Freehling was born Sept. 19, 1920 in Buchanan, the son of the late Adam and Anna (Hergenrader) Freehling. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Three Oaks. Mr. Freehling retired from Clark Equipment in 1978 after 30 years and had been a member of the Bridgman Lions Club. On Sept. 18, 1943, he married the former Adeline A. Martin and she survives him, along with a son, William M. (Carolyn) Freehling of Brentwood, Tenn.; a daughter, Elaine (Walter) Jotzat of Bridgman; five grandchildren -- Michael and Tony Freehling, and Steve, Derek, and Suzanne Jotzat; three great-grandchildren -- Jacob, Jordan, and Nathan Freehling; two sisters - Mary (Alex) Martin of Glendora and Ann Renbarger of Galien. Mr. Freehling was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
