    Obituary taken from the Tuesday, August 4, 1914 edition of The Lincoln Star, Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE, USA: Andrew Hergenrader, age 59 years, died at 11:30 o'clock this morning at the family residence, 910 Y street. Deceased has been a resident of Lincoln for some time. He is survived by a wife and twelve children. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday at St. John's German Evangelical church at Tenth and New Hampshire streets. Rev. David Maul will conduct the services. Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.

    He sailed on the SS Pennsylvania from Hamburg on 12 Oct 1901 and arrived at NY, USA on 25 Oct 1901. His contact in the USA was his "brother" Georg in Lincoln, NE. As Andreas had no brother Georg, this contact is believed to have been Georg-George Hergenröder-Hergenrader (born 20 Sep 1876), who was actually a first cousin, once removed. (Andreas and Georg and their families appear to have traveled together from state to state between 1900 and 1910 based on the birthplaces of their children during those years.) Last residence was Saratov, and birthplace was Russia.

    Obituary taken from the Tuesday, June 8, 1965 edition of The News-Palladium, Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI, USA: Mrs. Peter (Katherine) Demler, 72, of route 2, Berrien Springs, died at 5:30 a. m. today at Memorial hospital, St. Joseph. Mrs. Demler was born July 1, 1892 in Russia. She came to this area in 1910. On Nov. 17, 1912 she married Peter Demler in Baroda [sic, Three Oaks]. He survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Karl (Millie) Kerschbaum of Benton Harbor, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Zepik of Mont Clare, Calif., Mrs. Henry (Lovern) Maier of Berrien Springs, and Mrs. Harold (Marian) Ladendorf of St. Joseph; three sons, Edward of Monte Bello, Calif., George of St. Joseph and Henry of Stevensville; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, John Hergenrader of Buchanan and a half sister, Mrs. A. C. Ehrlich of Quartz Hill, Calif. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church in Baroda. Burial will be in Galien cemetery. The body is at the Kerlikowske Starks and Beatty funeral home St. Joseph. [Note: It would seem that the brother named was actually a half-brother and the half-sister named was actually a sister.]

    Obituary taken from the Sunday, August 18, 2002 edition of The Herald-Palladium, Saint Joseph and Benton Harbor, Berrien County, MI, USA: BRIDGMAN -- William Freehling, 81, of Bridgman, passed away Sat., Aug. 17, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tues., Aug. 20, at Boyd Funeral Home, a Kraig A. Pike Family Service in Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgman Lions Club or the Crossroads. Mr. Freehling was born Sept. 19, 1920 in Buchanan, the son of the late Adam and Anna (Hergenrader) Freehling. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Three Oaks. Mr. Freehling retired from Clark Equipment in 1978 after 30 years and had been a member of the Bridgman Lions Club. On Sept. 18, 1943, he married the former Adeline A. Martin and she survives him, along with a son, William M. (Carolyn) Freehling of Brentwood, Tenn.; a daughter, Elaine (Walter) Jotzat of Bridgman; five grandchildren -- Michael and Tony Freehling, and Steve, Derek, and Suzanne Jotzat; three great-grandchildren -- Jacob, Jordan, and Nathan Freehling; two sisters - Mary (Alex) Martin of Glendora and Ann Renbarger of Galien. Mr. Freehling was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters.

    Obituary found on the Internet: Mary Martin, 87, of Glendora, Michigan died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Martin was born May 12, 1922 in Three Oaks, Mich. the 12th of 13 children born to Adam and Anna (Hergenrader) Freehling. On December 28, 1943, she married Edward Martin in Baroda, Mich. Mrs. Martin worked at Clark Equipment Company, Buchanan, Mich in the quality control department and also at Metal Form. She was a life long member of Zion United Church of Christ in Baroda. Mrs. Martin loved to bake and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Edward; sons, Lonnie (Sharon) Martin of St. Joseph, Mich and Monsignor Thomas A. Martin of Kalamazoo, Mich; grandchildren, Mary (Len) Amat, Shawn (Chris) Martin, Tim (Kathryn) Martin, and Julie (Nathan) Turner; great grandchildren Abigail, Peter, Ben and Sarah Amat, Brendon and Brady Martin and Eleanor and Vivienne Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her daughter Constance Kaye Martin. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Zion United Church of Christ, Baroda, Mich. with Reverend Doctor Christopher Noffke officiating. Interment will follow at Glendora Cemetery, Weesaw Township, Mich. Visitation will be held from 5:00 till 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks.
